CAIRO, Feb 20 (KUNA) -- The Cairo-based Arab League expressed on Thursday concerns about, and denunciation of, taking any step that threatens Sudan's unity or divides it under any pretext. In a statement, the League affirmed its strenuous efforts to address Sudan's crisis, out of Arab constants based on preserving Sudan's sovereignty, unity and institutions.
The statement came in the wake of efforts made by some political powers and armed movements, during Kenyan talks, to form a parallel government in the areas controlled by Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSFs).
Earlier, Sudan's Foreign Ministry expressed, in a statement, sorrow over Kenya's hosting of an activity to sign a political deal by these powers and movements for this goal.
The statement said this move runs counter to international commitments, and encourages dividing African countries and violating their sovereignties.
The ministry accused Kenya of supporting the RSFs "responsible for continued genocide crimes in Sudan", in a violation of the UN and African Union charters. (end) mfm.maa.hm
