CAIRO, Feb 20 (KUNA) - The first burn hospital in Egypt is officially in effect as of Thursday thanks to the donation of the heirs of the late Sheikh Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.
During the opening ceremony, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah gave a speech expressing sincere happiness for this occasion and for the hospital that under his father's name has officially opened, and for the hospital's waiting room that is under his uncle's name late Sheikh Sabah Mohammad Sabah Al-Sabah.
He also greatly valued the role the hospital plays for the people of Egypt, Middle East, and Africa to serve as the first hospital specializing in burned victims.
The enclosure of preparing the major operating and waiting rooms comes thanks to the strong bilateral relations between Kuwait and Egypt especially in the health sector.
He also mentioned his mother's efforts in this project Sheikha Dr. Suad Mohammad Al-Sabah and her continued support as she and his father both visited the burned victims of the October war of 1973.
He also said, "I had the honor of sponsoring the ceremony of the Ahl Masr Foundation for Development which was held in Kuwait on December 2, 2019" were this initiative was embarked on.
Sheikh Abdullah presented great thanks to all those who contributed to these efforts and the success of its initiative to provide an opportunity for a better life for those victims.
The hospital is designed and equipped with the most modern utilities with the capacity of 200 beds of which 40 specialized for intensive care units, as well as a nursery center equipped to rescue and treat children, and an emergency department to receive more than 30 cases per minute.
It also contains operating rooms, a physical rehabilitation center, physiotherapy, and a psychological rehabilitation center among other departments and services that are aimed at the goal of saving the lives of burnt victims and reducing the rates of mortality, disability and deformities, and scheduled to provide service to 200,000 cases annually.
Attending the ceremony was former Prime Minister, Honorary President and Member of the Board of Trustees of the Ahl Masr Foundation for Development, Ibrahim Mahlab, advisor to the President of Egypt for Economic Development, former Minister of Planning and Economic Development, and member of the Board of Trustees of the Ahl Masr Foundation for Development, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed.
The opening was also attended by the Head of Kuwaiti Health office in Cairo, Dr. Muhammad Al-Ajmi, the executive director of the Ahl Masr Foundation, Iman Sharif and the Director of Ahl Masr Hospital Dr. Refaat Abdel Maksoud. (end)
