BAGHDAD, Feb 22 (KUNA) -- Iraq's Prime Minister Mohammad Al-Sudani said on Saturday his country has endorsed dialogue and balance to overcome international and regional challenges.
During his speech while opening Baghdad International Dialogue conference, Al-Sudani affirmed that abiding by the policy of balance was a stressful challenge and a difficult choice with which his government faced many unrealistic proposals devoid of responsibility.
Despite this, Iraq announced approving this policy, refraining from alignment with any particular axis while engaging with all efforts aimed at preventing the spread of conflicts, he added.
At the same time, Baghdad keeps its principled positions on key international issues, topped with the Palestinian cause, he pointed out.
He said his government managed to launch and encourage closer dialogue with countries, foremost among them were the talks with Saudi Arabia and Iran.
He again called for boosting trade, cultural and economic exchange with neighboring, and sisterly and friendly countries, as a main factor of building civilization and boosting the value of natural resources.
During talks with key international actors and engagements at the UN and other global forums, it has become evident that the international system "is incapable of fulfilling its duties", Al-Sudani noted.
The two-day conference is organized by the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue, themed "Communication for Development and Regional Stability", with the participation of a large number of researchers and those interested from Iraq and beyond. (end) ahh.hm
