CAIRO, Feb 22 (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmad Aboul-Gheit said on Saturday he looks forward for a unified Arab position to back the steadfastness of Palestinians.
Speaking during the seventh conference of the Arab Parliament and chairmen of Arab legislatures at the Arab League's H.Q, Aboul-Gheit affirmed the rejection of displacing Palestinians and supporting alternative initiatives.
The Arab region is going through the most dangerous period in its modern history, as the Palestinian cause, which has a great position inside all Arabs, is facing a plan of liquidation through the displacement of Palestinians after destroying land, he said.
He said the idea of displacing Palestinians is rejected on Arab and international levels, as it is illicit, immoral and unrealistic.
He underlined the exceptional importance of the collective Arab voice in this decisive period.
The chief reiterated abidance by the two-state solution vision, the only way for reaching the comprehensive peace in the region.
He elaborated that neither peace nor security will be achieved without the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. (end) asm.nsa.hm
