GENEVA, Feb 23 (KUNA) -- The Vatican announced on Sunday that Pope Francis had a peaceful night after a slight stabilization of his condition; however, doctors warned that his health remains critical, as he is still "not out of danger".
According to Vatican News (the news portal of the Holy See), the condition of Pope Francis remained critical, adding that Pope experienced an asthma-like respiratory crisis of prolonged intensity, which required the administration of high-flow oxygen.
The News portal added that blood tests also revealed thrombocytopenia associated with anemia, which required the administration of blood transfusions yesterday.
According to the Vatican, Pope Francis has been treated for double pneumonia at Rome's Gemelli Hospital since February 14.
Pope Francis, who is 88 years old, has a history of multiple health problems that have particularly affected his lungs. (end)
