(WITH POL-LD EGYPT-EU) CAIRO, March 2 (KUNA) -- Egypt on Sunday condemned the Israeli occupation government's decision that cut off the besieged Gaza Strip aid and the closed crossings used for humanitarian relief acts.
In a statement, Egypt's Foreign Ministry said the Israeli occupation forces' escalation step, which runs counter to the ceasefire deal, is a blatant violation of the agreement, international humanitarian law, the Fourth Geneva Convention and religion. There is neither a justification, condition nor logic used to starve innocent civilians and impose a blockade on them, mainly during the holy month of Ramadan, the statement added. The ministry called on the international community to bear its responsibilities and stop all illegitimate and inhumane practices, which target innocents, condemning attempts of gaining political purposes through jeopardizing innocents' lives, it noted.
The Israeli occupation forces halted aid entry into Gaza today, although it was supposed to start the negotiations of the second phases of the ceasefire deal.
Earlier, Egypt's Foreign Minister voiced Cairo's rejection of Israeli occupation forces' starvation policy against Palestinian people in Gaza, renewing the call for abiding by the 3-phase Gaza ceasefire deal provisions. (end) mm.hm
