KUWAIT, March 3 (KUNA) -- Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi affirmed today, Monday, that the (Makshat 3) project has successfully attracted more than 250,000 visitors, citizens, residents, and GCC nationals since its launch in November 2024, noting that this turnout reflects its distinction as a leading recreational and tourism destination.
In a statement to KUNA, Al-Ajmi said that (Makshat 3) will suspend visitor reception during the holy month of Ramadan to conduct maintenance and development work in preparation for the next phase, confirming that the project will reopen on the first day of Eid Al-Fitr with a fresh look and enhanced features to enrich the visitor experience.
He explained that the project was fully funded by the National Cooperative Projects Committee without imposing financial burdens on the state treasury, supported by exceptional efforts from the Cooperative Societies Union, pointing out that (Makshat 3) exemplifies a fruitful partnership between the public and private sectors, based on an integrated strategy of effective planning, comprehensive execution, innovative media promotion, and continuous monitoring to improve performance and visitor experience.
Al-Ajmi further stated that (Makshat 3) has bolstered the national economy by stimulating local spending and invigorating tourism and entertainment-related sectors, leading to increased sales for restaurants, cafes, and shops, while creating numerous direct and indirect job opportunities for Kuwaiti youth, entrepreneurs, and owners of small and medium enterprises, thereby enhancing the project's positive economic impact.
He affirmed that the project aligns with Kuwait Vision 2035 and the Sustainable Development Goals, noting that it provided a comprehensive recreational environment with diverse activities catering to all age groups.
He highlighted that the third edition of (Makshat) saw an expansion of its infrastructure, with the number of restaurants and cafes increasing to over 30, the expansion of the traditional cafe to enhance the heritage experience, and the allocation of 60 family rest areas to ensure visitor comfort, alongside additional events during official holidays that contributed to attracting more visitors.
Al-Ajmi pointed out that the project adopted cutting-edge technologies for event management, developing an advanced online booking system through its official website and the (EVENTAT) app to streamline entry and organization, in addition to using sophisticated tools to monitor performance, measure visitor satisfaction, and analyze data to refine future event planning.
He expressed appreciation for the close cooperation with government entities, including the Ministries of Interior, Information, and Health, and the General Fire Directorate, which provided distinguished services to ensure visitor comfort and safety, stressing that this support was pivotal to the project's success.
Al-Ajmi affirmed that (Makshat 3) stands as a model to be emulated in transforming ambitious ideas into economic successes, noting that its significant financial revenues during its operational period underscore its economic viability and open broad prospects for future development to strengthen Kuwait's position as a prominent regional recreational and tourism destination.
He emphasized that (Makshat 3) contributes to developing recreational infrastructure and harnessing the potential of Kuwaiti youth, reaffirming the Ministry of Social Affairs' commitment to supporting national projects with sustainable returns that serve Kuwait Vision 2035 and transform Kuwait into a distinguished tourism and entertainment hub.
