Jerusalem / PNN /
The Islamic Christian Authority for the Support of Jerusalem and Holy Sites condemned the recommendations of the Israeli occupation police to restrict the access of worshipers to the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the month of Ramadan.
The occuaption authorities recommended allowing only ten thousand worshipers to perform Friday prayers during Ramadan.
The Authority said in a statement that this unprecedented decision since 1967 constitutes a dangerous precedent and a provocation to the feelings of Muslims and a flagrant violation of the legal and historical status of Al-Aqsa Mosque and a consecration of Israeli control over the Noble Sanctuary.
It added that this Israeli decision, which constitutes a violation of human rights and freedom of worship guaranteed by all heavenly laws and international laws, is added to a long series of Israeli violations of freedom of worship in Al-Aqsa Mosque and the imposition of new facts on the ground that would undermine the status quo based on the Hashemite guardianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites.
The Authority called on the international community to take urgent and immediate action to stop these violations, respect the rights of Muslims, and enable them to practice their religious rituals in Al-Aqsa Mosque freely.
The Authority further warned the occupation authorities of the serious repercussions of these decisions and the dangerous escalation, for which the occupation will bear full responsibility.
It also called on Palestinians not to comply with these invalid decisions and stay in Al-Aqsa Mosque and thwart the occupation's attempts to restrict the right of Muslims to reach it and pray in it.
