October 16, 2024 (AL SHIGIG) – A truck carrying essential medical aid for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) was seized at a Rapid Support Forces (RSF) checkpoint in Al Shigig, White Nile state, on Sept. 20, the medical charity said on Wednesday. The driver has been missing since October 7, and MSF said it is concerned for his safety. The truck was transporting medicine and equipment to Kosti, where MSF supports healthcare services for people displaced by the conflict in Sudan. It had the necessary documentation and permits, MSF said. “The seizure of humanitarian aid is unacceptable,” said Juan Carlos Cano, MSF head of mission. “We urge the RSF to return the truck and its medical supplies and provide information on the driver’s whereabouts.” MSF said the aid halt in White Nile state since July has left health facilities without essential supplies. The conflict in Sudan has caused one of the world’s largest displacement crises.
