November 18, 2024 (PORT SUDAN) – US Special Envoy for Sudan, Tom Perriello, met with key Sudanese officials and civil society leaders in Port Sudan on Monday, emphasizing the urgent need to end the ongoing war and address the dire humanitarian crisis. Perriello met with Sovereign Council President Abdel Fattah Burhan, Deputy Chairman Malik Agar, Foreign Minister Ali Youssef, and the UN humanitarian team to discuss the urgent need to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis and bring an end to the devastating conflict in Sudan. In a statement on X, Perriello expressed the United States’ unwavering support for an immediate cessation of hostilities and condemned the atrocities committed against the Sudanese people. He welcomed recent progress in expanding humanitarian access and reiterated the US commitment to ensuring that essential aid reaches those in need. As the largest aid donor to Sudan, the United States is working tirelessly to deliver food, water, and medicine to all 18 states, including refugees.
