February 2, 2025 (MISTARIHA, North Darfur) – Musa Hilal, a prominent tribal leader in Sudan’s Darfur region and head of the Revolutionary Awakening Council, accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Sunday of plotting to attack the town of Mistariha and assassinate him. Hilal, a leader of the Mahamid clan, a branch of the Rizeigat tribe, made the allegations during a gathering of his forces in Mistariha, North Darfur. He said the RSF planned to target him after taking control of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state. “Some RSF leaders and soldiers are talking about how, after they seize El Fasher, they will go to Mistariha to assassinate Musa Hilal and his son,” he told the gathering. Hilal, who last year rejected the war between the RSF and the Sudanese army and declared his support for the military, vowed to defend Mistariha. “If they attack us, even with a single bullet, they will know our true strength, and we will repel them,” he said.
