February 2, 2025 (WAD MADANI) – The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) continued their rapid advance in al-Jazirah State in central Sudan on Sunday, gaining control over vast areas in the north and east of the state, including locations adjacent to the capital, Khartoum. On Saturday, the army and its allies resumed military operations in al-Jazirah State, seizing control of the cities of Rufa’a and Tamboul, as well as surrounding villages in the eastern part of the region. They also took control of the al-Hasahisa locality in the north of al-Jazirah and advanced to the outskirts of the al-Kamilin locality. The commander of the Sudan Shield Forces, Abu Aqla Keikel, announced that “the army has taken control of the Wad Rawah and al-Nabati areas and is determined to advance towards the capital, Khartoum.” He revealed that a mobile force under his command, coming from eastern al-Jazirah, linked up with another army force from east of the Nile at the al-Nabati crossing point, which leads to areas of the East Nile locality in Khartoum State and is located on the eastern national highway (Madani – Khartoum).
