Here’s a closer look at Joseph Aoun’s history:Education and militaryBorn in 1964, Aoun earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with a specialization in international affairs as well as a university degree in military sciences.Married with two children, the strong presidential candidate joined the Military Academy in 1983 and was promoted through the ranks before being appointed as an army commander in 2017.Trainings and medalsDuring the course of his military career, Aoun underwent several trainings within Lebanon and abroad. Most notably, the army commander participated in an international counter terrorism program in the US between 2008 and 2009.
